Anthropic's Claude Duet can send invoices and issue refunds for small businesses
Stripe's MCP and Link wallet sit inside Anthropic's new research-preview app. The owner approves each purchase.
What happened
Stripe announced on October 21, 2026 that Anthropic integrated Link’s wallet for agents and Stripe MCP into Claude Duet. Duet is a new Anthropic app in research preview for small business owners and professionals. With Link, owners can ask Duet to buy things, and they approve each purchase before Claude completes it with a virtual card. With Stripe MCP, owners can send invoices and payment links, manage products and prices, analyze revenue, and issue refunds. Stripe says Link powers payments for more than 200 personal agents.
What it means
Duet covers both sides of the small-business ledger from one chat. It buys on the AP side with approval on each purchase. It invoices and refunds on the AR side through Stripe. Anthropic’s Rahul Patil framed the design as keeping “people in charge of every dollar.” Note where the approval sits. Stripe’s release describes approval on purchases and says nothing about approval on refunds.
Why it matters to you
Small businesses are the first users, but the pattern scales. AR actions such as refunds and invoices now happen in a chat window, outside the billing system’s own screens. A refund is cash out the door. Your controls need to cover the agent’s path, not only the app’s own screens.
What to watch
Duet is in research preview, so the first signal is a wider release. Watch whether Anthropic or Stripe adds approval on refunds, the step the release does not mention. Watch the number of personal agents on Link, which Stripe puts at more than 200.
