As of

Acumatica sells cloud ERP to mid-market companies with about 25 to 1,000 employees, from Bellevue, Washington. Vista Equity Partners bought it from EQT in a deal that closed in late July 2025 (High). Bloomberg reported the deal valued Acumatica at about $2 billion including debt (Medium, unnamed sources). It serves more than 10,000 customers through resellers and other partners (High, company figure). The bottom line is a channel-sold ERP that now puts MCP access and agents into every customer’s release.

Acumatica was founded in 2008, and CEO John Case joined in 2022 (High). Under EQT, it grew revenue 7x and headcount more than 3x, per the seller (High, EQT figure). The company aimed for about 750 employees in mid-2025 (Medium).

What does it sell?

Acumatica covers financials, distribution, manufacturing, construction, retail, and professional services through Industry Editions (High). Pricing has no user seats. Cost depends on the applications chosen, the expected transaction volume and resources, and the license type (High). Every quote runs through an Acumatica partner, so no list price is public.

The 2026 R2 release shipped on October 1, 2026. It moves every customer to the modern interface, adds a native data warehouse for reports, and ships a production customer portal (High). Trade press also lists new embedded payment partners and Apple Tap to Pay (Medium).

What does it ship for AI agents?

Shipped: AI Assistant became generally available with 2026 R2 for customers on 2026 R1 or later (High). It answers questions from Generic Inquiries that an administrator exposes, and it cannot update records. A native MCP server lets Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, and other clients query Acumatica with inherited role permissions and field masking (High). AI Studio adds tool calling and agents that update line items (Medium, trade press).

Absent: a price for AI. Usage is free for now and does not count toward consumption tiers (Medium, trade press). Acumatica has stated no end date for the free period.

What does a buyer need to check?

The assistant is read-only, and its reach depends on what the administrator configures. Write actions come through AI Studio agents, which trade press describes and the company release names only in general terms. Buyers must ask which agent actions run in production today.

Partners shape the experience. Implementation, pricing, and support all run through resellers, so quality varies by partner. The 10,000+ customer count dates from May 2025, and Acumatica has not updated it in the sources read (High).
