Brex sells corporate cards, expense management, bill pay, travel, and business accounts. Capital One closed its purchase of Brex in April 2026, a deal American Banker put at $5 billion in cash and stock (High). Brex brings about 35,000 business clients, per the same report (Medium). Founder Pedro Franceschi was still Brex CEO at closing. The bottom line is that Brex is now a bank’s spend platform, and integration decides its next year.

Capital One plans to spend nearly $1 billion over three years to integrate Brex, including retention pay (High). Capital One wants Brex’s agent products and business clients. Brex revenue under Capital One is not published in the sources read.

What does it sell?

Essentials is free per user and covers global cards, bill pay, reimbursements, accounting integrations, and API access for up to two entities (High). Premium costs $12 per user per month and adds multiple policies, multi-entity support, and AI compliance audit detection. Enterprise and the Smart Card procurement product carry custom pricing. Cards work in 210+ countries and territories, with local-currency cards in 50+.

Brex lists no accounts receivable product on its pricing page. Its cards, bill pay, and accounts serve money going out. That puts Brex beside Ramp on spend, but not on receivables.

What does it ship for AI agents?

Shipped: Brex Assistant fetches receipts, writes memos, and files reimbursements for employees. The Audit Agent sorts potential policy violations by risk. The Review Agent approves low-risk expenses and follows up on exceptions (High). An accounting agent syncs charges into the ERP, per American Banker.

Absent: the pages read show no MCP server, and the agents cover spend, not invoicing or collections. Brex says customer data does not train third-party models.

What does a buyer need to check?

Ownership changed the risk profile. Brex now sits inside a bank, which brings scale and also a long integration. Buyers must ask how pricing, partner banks, and support change as Capital One absorbs Brex. The $1 billion integration budget shows the size of that work.

Proof figures on the agent page lack context. Brex shows “99% automated” and “99.7% GL coded” with no method or customer beside them (vendor claim). Its FAQ claims 98% compliance rates without manual enforcement.
