- As of
Coupa sells procurement, invoicing, accounts payable, expense, payment, and treasury software to large enterprises. Thoma Bravo took it private in February 2023 in an all-cash deal valued at about $8.0 billion (High). Coupa says $10.5 trillion in spend has flowed through it, across 11.5 million+ buyers and suppliers (High, self-reported). Revenue is not published. The bottom line is that Coupa is the incumbent AP and procurement suite, betting on its spend data to sell agents.
CEO Leagh Turner leads the company from Foster City, California. Coupa calls itself the leading platform for agentic spend management (vendor claim). Gartner named Coupa a Leader in the 2026 Magic Quadrant for Accounts Payable Applications, per Coupa (High).
What does it sell?
Invoice-to-Pay combines invoicing, AP, expenses, payments, and treasury on one platform (High). Coupa Pay transactions rose 58% year over year in the first half of fiscal 2027, and payment volume grew 71% (High, self-reported). Coupa Card, a virtual card, launched in November 2025 and has carried about $50 million in spend. Coupa IDP, built on the Rossum acquisition, claims up to 98% touchless invoice processing.
Subscription pricing is not public. Coupa Compose, launched May 12, 2026, bundles agent building and orchestration with an outcome-based pricing model (High). Coupa Catalyst adds forward-deployed engineers and solution architects as services.
What does it ship for AI agents?
Shipped: Coupa lists 50+ Navi agents across early access, limited availability, and general availability (High). Navi Agent Studio, a no-code agent builder, became generally available in May 2026. Named agents include Expense Receipt Parsing and Invoice Payment Batch Creation. Coupa bought Tonkean and Rossum to add orchestration and document processing.
Absent: confirmed MCP and Agent-to-Agent support. Coupa scheduled both for September 2026 through Navi Connect, and the pages read do not confirm that release shipped (High). Coupa also does not say how many of its 50+ agents are generally available.
What does a buyer need to check?
Agent maturity varies. The 50+ count mixes early access, limited availability, and general availability, with no split given. Results come from single customers, such as one insurer that parsed about 50,700 receipts in under three months (vendor claim). Buyers must ask for results from agents in general availability.
Outcome-based pricing needs a definition. Coupa has not published how it measures an outcome or what it charges per outcome. Buyers must get the metric, the baseline, and the cap written into the contract.
