Esker is a finance automation vendor that sells source-to-pay and order-to-cash software on one platform, Esker Synergy, with global e-invoicing compliance built in. It was founded in 1985 in Lyon, France. Bridgepoint and General Atlantic took it private at €1.62B and delisted it in March 2025. The last public financials are FY2024: revenue €205.3M, +15%, 82% SaaS. Headcount was about 1,042 in H1 2024, the last public figure. It claims 3,000+ customers and 1.12M users (vendor claim).

As of 2026-10-18 Esker announced a Kyriba partnership (2026-10-15), a liquidity platform feeding AP and AR signals into cash forecasting. First customer availability is targeted for 2027, and no customers are named. Nucleus placed it as a 2026 Leader. The read: the compliance incumbent for SAP-centric multinationals, well funded, with exposure on owned payments, deployment speed and non-SAP ERPs.

What does it sell?

  • Synergy platform: source-to-pay and order-to-cash on one stack, sold as one vendor for the Office of the CFO.
  • E-invoicing compliance: registered French PDP (#0005), Peppol Access Point, and 60+ country coverage through a Sovos partnership (High).
  • Synergy AI Agents: credit, customer inquiry, order and cash application agents, marketed as AI that “works with people.”
  • Esker Pay: partner payments through Stripe, Corpay and Boost, with no owned rails.

The target is global mid-market to enterprise, SAP-heavy, with shared services. Geography is Europe first, with the Americas growing (+51% bookings in 2024). Pricing is custom only: a SaaS subscription, a transaction volume line and paid implementation services. Implementation services were 17% of revenue and grew 28% in 2024.

What does it ship for AI agents?

Announced: Synergy AI Agents for credit, customer inquiry, order and cash application, and the Synergy Agentic Framework (2026-09-09). A re-read on 2026-10-18 found no named agents, dates, customers or pricing, and the cited results come from non-agent customers. No named customer outcomes for the agents surfaced in public sources (Medium).

What does a buyer need to check?

  • Reviews: G2 4.3 on only 28 reviews. Gartner Peer Insights 4.6 on about 95. The top complaint is implementation overruns and consultant dependence outside SAP. Reviewers report six to twelve month configurations on a review base that is SAP in practice.
  • Proof: Gartner Invoice-to-Cash Magic Quadrant Leader in 2023 and 2024, Leader in the first AP Magic Quadrant (2025), IDC European Compliant e-Invoicing Leader 2024. Esker offers no self-serve option.
  • Pricing: nothing is public, and the services line grows faster than revenue, so services scope is the main cost question for a mid-market buyer.
  • Ownership: no financials since FY2024, so a buyer weighing vendor viability has less to inspect than with public rivals.
